There are lots of simple things you can do to make your veges last longer.
All vegetables that have tops, such as carrots, beetroot, radishes etc – twist off the tops and pop the vegetable in a snap lock bag in the fridge, otherwise the tops will dry out the vegetable faster.
Are you like me, and have already started dreaming of gloriously sweet summer time tomatoes? Don’t keep tomatoes in the fridge (storing tomatoes in the fridge will sap them of flavour), store at room temperature for maximum flavour – but keep in mind the warmer the location, the faster tomatoes will ripen.
Keeping your broccoli in a snaplock bag will increase their life span by weeks!
Again keep in a snap lock bag but make sure they are nice and dry to avoid the beans going brown.
All of these will last for ages in a glass of water on the bench.
Even though your potatoes come in a brown bag, light can still get through. Store your potatoes in a dark dry place out of the sun to stop any potatoes turning green.
